ARTOS INTRODUCES MTX SPECIAL APPLICATION IGNITION WIRE PROCESSOR
WAUKESHA, WIS. (August 31, 2005)

Artos Engineering Company, a Waukesha-based manufacturer of wire processing equipment, introduces the MTX Ignition Wire Processor. Designed to process ignition wires ranging in size from 5-10 mm used in gasoline-powered engines, the MTX Ignition Application has replaced the popular CS-9, CS-33 and CS-600 Ignition machines.

With configurations available for both the MTX-5 and MTX-10 machines, the MTX Ignition Application boasts a quick, programmable change-over of wire and terminals, reducing set-up times and increasing throughput in low lot size production environments. The MTX Ignition Application also eliminates inventory by allowing companies to easily batch, package and ship the finished product directly off the machine, avoiding expensive work-in-process inventory.

Another important benefit of the MTX Ignition Application is its continuity inspection with automatic removal and remake of rejected wires. This ensures that customers are always shipping a complete, final product. During this process, the MTX Ignition Application inspects the product, automatically sorts out bad wires and in turn, reproduces quality wires.

“By adding just one MTX-5 Ignition machine, we were able to replace two CS-33’s we previously had on the floor. This has been a welcomed reduction for us in several different areas, including labor and maintenance,” says Greg Powers, plant manager of Grandview, Missouri-based Taylor Cable Products, Inc., which manufactures ignition wires for show cars and race cars. “Because we manufacture ignition wires in such small lot sizes, the MTX Ignition Application offers a quick and reliable turnaround time, as well as produces a high-quality, final product we can distribute to our own customers.”

“By listening to our customers and their feedback, we developed the MTX Ignition Application to provide them with exactly the type or processing options they needed,” says John Olsen II, president of Artos Engineering. “Not only does it save our customers time, it also features options previously not available on other machines.”

Other important features of Artos’ MTX Ignition Application include:

  • Modular crimping tools offer quick change without tools
  • Special blade configuration and knock-out
  • Heavy-duty terminal chop-off with scrap collection
  • Optional programmable crimp height setting
  • Optional automatic removal of completed wire

These important features, combined with several others on the MTX Ignition Application provide customers with the latest in wire processing technology.
